Mark Moore Fine Art is very pleased to let you know that the inaugural installation of the Nancy and Rich Kinder building at the Museum of Fine Art Houston opened to the public on November 21, 2020. Included in this inaugural installation is the thematic exhibition “LOL!”, on view in gallery 313 which includes “Untitled Tattoo Flash” by Okay Mountain which was acquired by the museum with funds from Mark and Hilarie Moore in 2016.
The Nancy and Rich Kinder Building is dedicated to the Museum’s international collections of modern and contemporary art. The soaring spaces feature displays that span media encompassing painting and sculpture, craft and design, video, and immersive installations.
“LOL!” features art that uses humor as a strategy. Now-classic sculptures, photographs, and videos by Claes Oldenburg, Tony Oursler Sandy Skoglund and William Wegman are on view, along with surprising works such as Grupo Mondongo’s “Calavera 4 (Skull 4)”, with its humorously re-contextualized sociopolitical, pop-culture, and art historical references; improbable furniture prototypes by the Campana Brothers and KAWS; and Yoshkomo Naras untitled drawings of cute, mischievous girls.
