MCQ Fine Art is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition Tim Bavington: Sounds of Silence featuring unique, hand-painted watercolors by internationally recognized and local artist, Tim Bavington. This is only the second exhibition of Bavington’s work in Las Vegas, the first being in 2006 at GC Arts, also curated by Michele C Quinn.
Taking a slight departure from his traditional acrylic painting medium, these new watercolor paintings have a graceful subtlety that are more reflective of the artist’s hand. Color is gently transformed and the watercolor washes along the page for a more lyrical approach. Although Bavington has a method that designates sound to color and composition, the paintings are not literal translations; they remain open to intuition and decision-making, allowing for a distinct artistic presence. Michele Quinn stated after a recent studio visit “It was exciting to see how Tim has used what can typically be a very quiet and traditional medium and bring it new life through his use of color and technique.“
