New Limited Edition Works on Paper by Artist JOSEPH ROSSANO

Mark Moore Fine Art is pleased to announce our partnership with Davis Editions to release three new limited edition works on paper by artist JOSEPH ROSSANO just released that I currently can offer you in pre-publication as a special offer. All three of these works are editions of just ten and are current available now in pre-publication for just $300.

JOSEPH ROSSANO
Pekania pennanti, The Fisher, 2018
Archival pigment print
Image Size: 10 x 14 inches / Paper Size: 20 x 24 inches
Edition of 10 + 2AP
For additional information on this piece, please CLICK HERE.

EDNA is not a long lost relative, or partner, though she is the love of my life.” says artist Joseph Rossano.

“She is also the love of many of our lives: she is, in many ways, our mother earth. “EDNA” is an acronym for environmental DNA (eDNA), the biological trace of organisms that have been present in surrounding water, soil, or air. Instead of finding and capturing organisms in open water, or even a shovelful of earth, then individually extracting their DNA , we can isolate and, en masse, read DNA left behind in the environment itself, using bioinformatics tools to identify the individual organisms from which the DNA was sloughed.”

These works, published in association with Davis Editions, are wonderful examples of the artists best work. Davis Editions uses archival pigment inks and 100% cotton rag paper to create museum-quality prints that are fully archival. Each of these works is a limited edition of just twenty with two artists proofs. Once an edition is sold out, those prints are no longer available. Each print is hand-stamped and numbered on the back by Davis Editions and validated with a certificate of authenticity. The certificate includes pertinent information about the print including publication date, print number, and edition size, and is signed and dated by the publisher.

JOSEPH ROSSANO
Oncorhynchus mykiss, The Steelhead, 2018
Archival pigment print
Image Size: 10 x 14 inches / Paper Size: 20 x 24 inches
Edition of 10 + 2AP

Rossano continues, “The biological equivalent of the tip of an iceberg, these fragments of being quite literally expose the DNA of previous visitors, extinct or extant, invasive or endemic and their ecological milieus across time. DNA can be extracted from an ice core and used to identify a mastodon as well as the flora (and their pollen) through which it lumbered. These organisms have not lived in this world for 10,000 years and yet their genetic remnants – a record of their individual natural histories – reveal a place in the past that was, previously unrecognizable and unreachable, even while held in one’s hand.”

“My EDNA works pay homage to place. Water, soil and air nurtured the forests from which each artwork is constructed, hosting many increasingly rare species. Reflecting the concept of eDNA, I depict animals that lived in these forests, exposing them on the environment’s salvaged remnants – plywood, cedar, ash, tar and more.”

JOSEPH ROSSANO
Sorex reticulatus, The Reticulated Shrew, 2018
Archival pigment print
Image Size: 10 x 14 inches / Paper Size: 20 x 24 inches
Edition of 10 + 2AP
For additional information on this piece, please CLICK HERE.

“EDNA”, as perceived through our five and more senses, is a sampling of organisms and their daily life, imagery, material and place, united in composing a much larger narrative of life – all life.

Joseph Rossano’s exhibition EDNA conveys a deep admiration for nature, science and history. While the interdisciplinary systems of the natural world are highlighted through his works, Rossano’s show serves as a sampling of different organisms and their connections to one another. Through a wide range of materials, Rossano composes a broad narrative that taps into the viewer’s senses and demands a profound consideration for the vastness of life.

PLEASE NOTE: You can now take a virtual walk-through of this stunning exhibition by clicking on the following link for a brief one-minute viewing of this show at: https://youtu.be/6cWcpsdZATs

For additional information on these works or these artists, please contact Mark Moore at: mark@markmooregallery.com

All work is available subject to prior sale and prices are subject to change without notice. All taxes, tariffs, shipping and/or viewing expenses, if any, would be additional.

How to help after the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks

shooting-calif7-pol-ml-181108_hpMain_12x5_608

In the aftermath of Wednesday’s shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, there are several ways people looking to help can contribute to the victims and support efforts.

“We all woke up today to the images and stories from the horrific shooting in Thousand Oaks last night,” reads a statement on the Ventura County Community Foundation Facebook page, which has coordinated with the city of Thousand Oaks and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to create a fund through which people can donate to support the “victims, families and organizations providing first and second line support.”

Donations can be made to the fund at vccf.org/donate/make-a-donation. Also, on their facebook page.

Crowdfunding website GoFundMe announced a verified fundraising campaign has been started for the victims of the shooting. The funds raised will be collected by the Rotary Club of Westlake Village, a registered nonprofit organization of which Borderline Bar & Grill owner Brian Hynes is a member.

Your vote has never mattered more!

ivotedsticker

If you don’t vote, you’re letting others decide who wins and what issues matter. Today’s non-voters actually favor government and social services (like access to health care, spending on education, income inequality or public safety, and the arts) at a much higher rate than people who vote regularly.

Voting is one of our most important right as citizens. As long as this country has existed, communities like ours have had to fight for the right to vote. There are still people today who don’t want some people to vote. It’s our turn to stand up and vote to preserve this right the honor of those who went before us.

Your vote has never mattered more.

Check out the following article just recently published on ARTSY:

“Success Story: Mark Moore Fine Art” — Read on pages.artsy.net/mark-moore-success-story

The feature is a very insightful look into the past, present, and future of Mark Moore Fine Art.

Since 1984, Mark Moore has been a leading champion of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists in Southern California. Until 2016, he was the founder and principal of Mark Moore Gallery – an acclaimed Los Angeles space that was family owned and operated for nearly thirty-two years. Recognizing the rapid changes of the gallery industry and the modern needs of his clients, Moore decided to pivot the focus of his business from the traditional gallery model to a private agency that would allow for increased project flexibility and individualized consulting.  Mark Moore Fine Art is a progression from Moore’s gallery history, with a similarly ambitious roster of represented artists and activity in the secondary market. With Moore’s broad experience, MMFA provides tailored collection management, consulting, project management, public artwork commissions, exhibition design, and curatorial services with the attentiveness of a small-scale firm.
